THE TWILIGHT GIRLS FIND WAYS TO KILL RENNY KODGERS

Helen Hyatt-Johnston spent time with us recently during Brad Buckleys’ show at RAYGUN. We have heard so much about her latest project she has been working on with colleague Jane Polkinghorne which involves 50  ways to kill Renny Kodgers. 2 nights ago at Contemporary Arts Tasmania the girls gave a performance (on what we are guessing is about the 15th way to kill him), at their opening which is also supported by Dark MOFO. We wish we were there! Check it out.

Tiffany Shafran opening night

A beautiful night with the large wall of the space transformed into a vertical replica of the artist’s studio work desk. Tiffany spoke of the work as an experimental project to test ideas out that have existed in vague forms throughout her practice since 2010. We look forward to watching how these ideas evolve in the future.

STEVEN PARRINO at Gagosian Gallery 2013

When I started making paintings, the word on painting was “PAINTING IS DEAD.” I saw this as an interesting place for painting […] Death can be refreshing, so I started engaging in necrophilia……

This opening quote by the late Steven Parrino is just too good, check out the show at Gagosian Gallery.

Creative Partnerships Australia

RAYGUN is super excited to be a part of the MATCH funding program and Creative Partnerships Australia. The project incorporates RAYGUN working with three artists or art projects which require funding to help them come to fruition. Our first project is a group show of directors and volunteers who are associated with MOP projects in Sydney. These guys will be travelling to Toowoomba to have a group show and have launched their campaign through the Pozible platform. The MATCH funding program will match the funds raised by friends and supporters to show full support and make sure their project come to life. Check out the story behind the show and a super big thank you to Creative Partnerships Australia for choosing to work with RAYGUN on such an awesome initiative.

Artist Run Copenhagen and Beyond

Here are some final images of both the opening night at a number of the artist run spaces around Copenhagen and the 2 day conference where up to 34 artist run spaces and a number of key-note speakers shared dialogue about what it is to have an artist run space, how they vary according to different geographical locations and the impact they have on communities at large. We are looking forward to continuing the dialogue with an upcoming exhibition in September at RAYGUN on the festival that was created by Honey Biba Beckerlee and Suada ada Demirovic, and will be curated by Louise Iversen.
