Walter De Maria – New York Earth Room

I thought of Earth Room tonight because it gives you as the viewer such a strange perception of space, to be looking into a space without being able to inhabit or experience it at all. It is literally a room filled with soil (it’s someone’s job to keep it weed free).

Earth Room is located:

141 Wooster Street, between Prince Street and Houston Street
New York City

Earth Room is The New York Earth Room has been on long-term view to the public since 1980. This work was commissioned and is maintained by Dia Art Foundation.
